WHY WRITE A MEMOIR ?

Ever think you might like to write a memoir? Ever worry that no one would want to read your story?
My advice is, write it! And this is why.
I am 70,000 words into my own memoir and it has been a real learning experience. I have had some very painful experiences in my life, and sharing them has been therapeutic.
1. Writing your memoir will help you to come to grips with painful events.
2. Reading your memoir will help others who have been through similar experiences see how you handled yours and maybe find a better way of proceeding with their own life problems.
3. It will help others to understand and find comfort.
4. A memoir of similar experiences helps folks to see their lives through another's eyes. Our journey helps others to understand theirs. Why? Because usually we are too close to our own problems to see them plainly. Learning of another's experiences give us insight to our own.
5. It's fun !
